Training objectives
In the end, student must have technical knowledge on boiler operating principles used to provide heat energy in industry. Students must know the different components of these machines, the basic phenomena for combustion, emissions of pollutants and heat transfer occurring in these systems and methods of production and operation of thermal energy in the industry.

Learning objectives
- Determine using the first law of thermodynamics and steam tables the characteristics of the working fluid across the different components of a steam system
- Study the energy exchange in a steam network
- Identify the different components of a steam network
- Determine the efficiency of a boiler
- Understand the various components of a power plant operating according to a Rankine cycle
- Identify the technological differences between the various types of boilers
- Understand the different types of water circulation in boilers
- Understand the functioning and operation problems of the different elements of a boiler
- Understanding the importance of basic parameters such as excess air and turbulence to control the quality of combustion in boilers
- Use an On Ostwald diagram to determine the quality of a combustion
- Identify the various components of burners systems and understand their importance
- Identify the main pollutants emitted by power plants and know the main ways of struggle against pollution
